Matteah Davis // Board Chair

Matteah (they/she) is WashPIRG’s State Board Chair, and the University of Washington’s Affordable Healthcare campaign coordinator. She is super excited to help train and organize students across the state and work with other states as state chair, and educate about and lobby for changes in healthcare accessibility. Matteah is a third year double major in political science and journalism + public interest communications. In their free time, you can find them reading about people falling in love, usually while listening to Taylor Swift.
Debo Jyoti Paul // Board Vice Chair
Debo serves as the State Board Vice-Chair for WashPIRG and actively participates in the University of Washington’s Affordable Healthcare campaign. He enthusiastically coordinates events and loves to engage with peers on related affairs. Currently an undergraduate junior, Debo is studying Computer Science, Data Science, and Information Science, driven by a profound passion for health and sustainability. In his leisure time, he enjoys hiking the trails of Rattlesnake, exploring local markets of Seattle, sampling new eateries, and experimenting with various musical instruments that capture his interest.
Marc Johnson // Board Secretary
Marc (he/hm) is a current undergraduate student at the Evergreen State College and Secretary of the WashPIRG student board of directors. New to WashPIRG, he hopes to bring campaigns and projects he’s working on to the community, and rally students to those causes as well to others. Outside of school and PIRG, Marc enjoys spending time with his cat and maintaining his garden.
Beatrice Raugei // Board Member At-Large
Beatrice directs WashPIRG’s Hunger and Homelessness campaign at the University of Washington. She connects students across the country by engaging them in different volunteering, legislative, and educational efforts. When she isn’t working on campaign duties, Beatrice loves to learn languages and reading!
McKenna Eggers // Campus Organizer
McKenna is a recent Environmental Studies and Interdisciplinary Honors graduate from the University of Washington – Seattle. As an undergrad, she worked with the King County Climate Action Team to develop a Climate Change Resource Hub for employees alongside a Capstone as part of the Program on the Environment, and assisted in managing WashPIRG’s Clean Cars campaign at the Univeersity of Washington.
Sophia Pascente // Campus Organizer
Sophia works to recruit, train, and mobilize students across the state of Washington on public interest issues. Prior to joining the campus team, she worked as a Green Corps organizer in the class of 2023. Sophia lives in Eugene, Oregon, where she can be found hiking, biking along the Willamette, and cheering on Kansas sports teams.
Dan Xie // Political Director
Dan began her career in college as a student leader with CALPIRG, where she helped to bring high-speed rail to California. In her current role she directs the national political strategy for the Student PIRGs. She advises staff and students on strategic campaign plans and amplifies our work with coalition partners and at conferences. Dan has managed successful campaigns to cap global warming pollution, fight the high cost of higher education, and make voting more accessible for students. Dan lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she is an avid cyclist and climber.
